Manchester United are planning to step up contract talks with midfielder Paul Pogba, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The midfielder has only nine months left on his remaining deal, and there has been little progress over a renewal.

The club made a £400,000-a-week offer earlier this year. It is widely reported that the offer remains on the table.

According to Romano, the hierarchy are expected to meet with Pogba's agent Mino Raiola over a fresh round of talks.

They are optimistic that the midfielder will commit his future to the club rather than pursuing a new challenge.

Pogba's stance to leave the club has softened after Cristiano Ronaldo's return, but he has yet to renew his stay.

There has been speculation that Real Madrid are keen on signing him on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix. Both teams could be prepared to hand him higher wages compared to United.
