Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is reportedly attracting interest from Barcelona ahead of the January transfer window.

The Uruguayan had an injury-plagued debut season with the Red Devils, but still bagged 17 goals and nine assists in all competitions.

He was convinced to extend his stay for another campaign, but he is no longer guaranteed a starting role in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo is an assured starter up front after his sensational return after 12 seasons. Cavani has been fancied to leave soon.

His current deal expires at the end of the campaign, but The Express claims that the Blaugrana are eyeing a mid-season loan deal.

The La Liga giants are facing financial difficulties, and it is reported that United may need to pay part of the £250,000-a-week wages.

It is unclear whether the Red Devils will consider the proposal, given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regards Cavani as a key part of his plans.

Anthony Martial has been widely fancied to head for the exit door in January. Solskjaer may want to keep Cavani for the season.
