Cavani wants January Man United exit

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani could push for a move away from the Red Devils during the January transfer window.

The Uruguayan had an injury-plagued debut season with the Red Devils last term, but still registered 17 goals across all competitions.

He was expected to play a key role upfront this term, but the scenario has changed with Cristiano Ronaldo's sensational return.

Cavani has been a regular on the bench since his return from an injury, and his situation is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Barcelona are among the clubs interested in Cavani, and El Nacional claims that the Uruguayan could push for the exit door.

Cavani will enter the final six months of his contract in January, and United could be tempted to offload him for a nominal fee.

His £250,000-a-week salary may prove a stumbling block for clubs including Barcelona, who are working on a tight wage budget.

They offloaded several stars this summer to meet the new La Liga salary limit, and may not afford Cavani unless he accepts a hefty pay-cut.
