Manchester City enter race to sign Chelsea defensive target
Manchester City have entered the race to sign Villarreal defender Pau Torres, a report from Marca claims.
The Spaniard was linked with a Premier League move this summer with Tottenham Hotspur being the main admirers.
Spurs were in advanced negotiations with Villarreal over a transfer, but the centre-back snubbed their advances to stay put.
According to Marca, the Cityzens have now entered the pursuit of the centre-back. It is claimed that he could be tempted to join them.
Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the Spain international. A potential transfer is unlikely to happen until the end of the campaign.
The Cityzens currently have four senior centre-backs in their ranks in Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nathan Ake.
Laporte has regularly partnered Dias recently, but there has been speculation regarding his long-term future with the club.
Barcelona were linked with him last summer, and there are suggestions that the centre-back would like to join them in the future.
