Newcastle closing in on Modric?

Rumours are rife this morning that Luka Modric is set to complete a move to Newcastle after Toon and the player's representatives met to discuss a summer move to the Premiership.

Dinamo Zagreb vice-president Zdravko Mamic held discussions with Newcastle in the Malmaison this week, with Dennis Wise the man who has been chasing Modric all month.

Modric will earn around £80,000 a week at Newcastle and the club are keen to tie the midfielder down to a deal before Euro 2008.

Should Newcastle complete a move for the midfielder, the fee is estimated to be around £12 million, and the move will be considered a massive coup for the Toon, signing a player that is being chased by Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea.
