Arsenal handed Renato Sanches boost

Arsenal have been handed a potential boost in signing Renato Sanches from Lille during the January transfer window.

The Portuguese has 19 months left on his contract, and he has been widely fancied to leave Lille at the turn of the year.

The Gunners have already made contact with the midfielder's agents, and they are likely to make a formal approach in January.

They have now received a boost in the pursuit with Sanches admitting that he is ready to take up a new challenge elsewhere.

In an exclusive interview with L'Equipe, the midfielder also refused to rule out a move to the Gunners or Milan in the future.

Lille wanted around £35m for their prized asset last summer, but they were no clubs willing to meet the transfer valuation.

Sanches' injury record has been a concern. Lille may accept a lesser fee for his services when the transfer window reopens.

The Gunners are long-term admirers of Sanches, but will have a tough task of convincing him amid interest from Milan.

The Rossoneri are currently flying high in the Italian top-flight. They are second on the table, only goal difference behind Napoli.
