Barcelona are planning a January move to sign Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, The Mirror reports.

The Catalan giants are keen on landing a new marksman this winter, but they are not in a position to spend big due to financial restrictions.

Cavani's contract expires at the end of the campaign, but The Mirror claims that the Blaugrana may attempt to sign him in January.

The Uruguay international is open to leaving the Red Devils for regular game time. Aside from the Blaugrana, Inter Milan are also keen on him.

United are not actively looking to sell the 34-year-old, but reports claim that a fee of around £5 million could convince them to sanction his exit.

Cristiano Ronaldo is presently the undisputed striker at the club. Cavani has started just two Premier League games in the current campaign.

Cavani also faces competition from Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial. He is reportedly unsettled amid his reduced game time.
