Mikel Arteta provides injury update on Bukayo Saka
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Bukayo Saka will be assessed after being substituted early against Newcastle United.
The England international opened the scoring before the hour mark for the Gunners, but picked up an injury in the process.
Saka was struggling with a problem around his hip region, and he was eventually substituted in the 64th minute.
Gabriel Martinelli, who came on in his place, double the scores for the Gunners in the 66th minute with a stellar volley.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said that Saka felt something through an action, and will be assessed for any potential injury.
He told Arsenal.com: "It was an action where he said he felt something and wasn't comfortable to continue and we'll have to assess him tomorrow and probably scan him and see if there's any injury there."
Saka was the stand-out performer for the north London club for the opening hour, and they will hope that there is nothing serious.
The Gunners face Manchester United on the road on Thursday night. Saka could be a potential doubt to make the matchday squad.
