Chelsea defender ready to stay on one condition
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta is ready to sign a new contract with the club if he is handed a multi-year extension.
The Spain international has been with the Blues for nearly a decade, managing over 450 appearances across all competitions.
He continues to remain a key player for the west London giants, but has been in-and-out of the starting line-up this season.
According to The Athletic, the Blues captain has yet to receive a contract proposal despite his deal expiring next summer.
The hierarchy plan to offer him a 12-month extension, but reports claim that the defender will hold out for at least a two-year deal.
If the Blues are unwilling to meet his demands, he could be on the move. Barcelona are reportedly keen on landing his services.
Xavi is a huge admirer of Azpilicueta, having previously played together in the Spain setup. He is keen on luring him to the Camp Nou.
Azpilicueta will be free to discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club in January, but he is likely to delay his decision until next summer.
