Thomas Tuchel confirms Chelsea midfielder won't face Brentford
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N'Golo Kante won't play any part in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Brentford.
The Frenchman recently returned from a knee injury, but Tuchel opted to play him for the entire 90 minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Following the game, Tuchel acknowledged that he went against medical advice. He has now confirmed that Kante won't be involved tomorrow.
He told Chelseafc.com: "What we did with N'Golo Kante for 90 minutes was close to being irresponsible. Will he be involved in the squad against Brentford? No. Simply no."
The Blues have been hampered drastically by injuries and coronavirus cases. Tuchel involved as many as eight academy graduates in training on Monday.
The club have received a timely boost ahead of tomorrow's game with Jorginho returning to training after a Covid-19 scare on Sunday.
There was some confusion over the midfielder's coronavirus test, but 30-year-old has now been cleared to play after testing negative yesterday.
