Arteta updates on Aubameyang's situation

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has insisted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's position will be assessed on a game by game basis.

The Gabon international was dropped earlier this month after a disciplinary breach. He has missed the last five games for the Gunners.

In this period, he has also been stripped of captaincy. He has now been allowed to join Gabon ahead of their African Cup of Nations campaign.

Hence, the striker won't face Manchester City on New Year's Day. Arteta has said that his situation will be analysed game by game.

Aubameyang is set to miss at least five matches for the Gunners in January. Arteta is likely to decide on his future on his return from Cameroon.

There is speculation that the 32-year-old could be sold next month, but that may depend on the London giants signing a new centre-forward.

They have been linked with Sevilla's Youssef En-Nesyri and Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic, but neither could be available in January.
