Manchester United favourites to sign Argentine sensation

Manchester United are reportedly deemed favourites to sign River Plate forward Julian Alvarez this month.

The 21-year-old has had a superb campaign for River Plate, bagging 24 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.

He has been widely compared to Sergio Aguero for his style of play, and United are keen on landing his services.

According to Sport, his agent is expected to travel to Europe this month to hold negotiations with some interested clubs.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Juventus are all keen, but United are deemed front-runners to secure his signature this month.

The marksman is keen on a new challenge away in Europe. The Red Devils are ready to trigger his £17m release clause.

Alvarez has largely played as a centre-forward, but he is also comfortable operating from the wide attacking positions.

His arrival could pave the way for the departure of Anthony Martial, who has his sights on joining Sevilla on loan with a buy option included.
