Chelsea could lose out on Aurelien Tchouameni with Real Madrid opening negotiations with AS Monaco.

The Blues were linked with the Frenchman last summer, but decided to sign Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico instead.

Saul has since endured a tough season with the club, and reports claim that they won't trigger the option to buy him.

Tchouameni remains a target for the Blues, but SoyMadridista claims that Los Blancos could be leading the race.

The Spanish club recently sent their chief scout to Monaco to negotiate with the Ligue 1 outfit and Tchouameni's agent.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best upcoming midfielders in French football, and has already been capped.

His box-to-box ability has earned him lot of praise. He is widely expected to leave Monaco at the end of the current campaign.

Monaco valued him at around €35 million last summer, but the valuation has been upped to over €50m after his France debut.
