Newcastle United make bid for Chelsea striker
Newcastle United have made a formal bid of £33m to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja this month, Tuttomercatoweb claims.
The Albanian is currently on loan at Southampton where he has impressed with seven goals and one assist from 21 appearances.
The Saints have made a bid of £25m to sign him permanently, but the Magpies are looking to beat them to the striker's services.
The Magpies are desperate for reinforcements this month. There could be a late spending spree to bolster different areas of the squad.
The club signed Chris Wood for £25m earlier in the transfer window, but are also keen on pursuing another striker before Monday's deadline.
Broja at 20 would be an ideal long-term signing for them. It remains to be seen whether the Blues are tempted by the transfer proposal.
The west London giants would first need to terminate his loan deal with the Saints before selling him. The Blues may want a first-refusal clause included.
