Man Utd pushing to sign Uruguayan defender?

Manchester United are deemed the front-runners to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo this summer.

The Uruguayan was linked with the Red Devils last month, but a deal did not materialise between the clubs.

He continues to remain on their radar, and Marca claims that they are the strongest contenders to land his services.

Araujo has already snubbed a contract proposal from the Blaugrana, and talks are ongoing to convince him to stay.

He will soon enter the final year of his deal, and reports claim that the Red Devils could capitalise on the situation.

Araujo is eyeing five times of his current annual salary of around €900,000. The Blaugrana are yet to meet the figure.

The La Liga imposed wage cap does not allow them to negotiate freely, and this could lead to the defender's exit this summer.

United are considered favourites in the transfer pursuit, but there is bound to be interest from other elite European sides.
