Chelsea handed boost in landing Juventus star
Chelsea have been handed a boost in signing Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
The Netherlands international is currently in his third campaign for the Bianconeri, but has been tipped to leave this summer.
He still has over two years remaining on his contract, but the Turin giants are open to selling him due to his high annual wages (£10m).
The Blues have already made initial contact with the Serie A club, and they have now been handed a boost in the player's pursuit.
According to Tuttosport, the Dutchman is flattered by the transfer interest, and could be available for less than his €120m release clause.
Amid their financial issues, the Bianconeri are willing to accept around €90m for the 22-year-old, who was previously at Ajax.
De Ligt also favours a move to Barcelona this summer, but the Catalan giants are not in a position to afford his services at the moment.
They still need to reduce their wage bill significantly before La Liga lift the imposed salary cap. They will have to focus on outgoings first.
