Chelsea handed blow in pursuit of PSG star

Chelsea have been handed a potential blow in the pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos.

The Blues made an approach to sign the Brazil international last summer, but Les Parisiens had no plans to sell him.

Meanwhile, Marquinhos was also happy to stay put, and it appears he may not leave the Parisian giants anytime soon.

The Blues are still keeping tabs on his situation, but ESPN claims that the Brazilian will soon commit to a new deal.

Marquinhos is completely committed to Les Parisiens where he is the captain. He is prepared to stay for the long-term.

The 27-year-old has been with Les Parisiens for nearly nine years. He is likely to sign a new deal until the summer of 2026.

The Blues may have to look elsewhere to bolster their central defence this summer. They may revive their interest in Jules Kounde.

The club failed with multiple bids for the Frenchman last year. Sevilla are holding out for the £67m release clause on his contract.
