Man Utd reach verbal agreement with Erik ten Hag

Ten Hag set to become Man Utd's new manager

Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Erik ten Hag over the managerial role, David Ornstein reports.

The Dutchman has been the clear favourite to become the permanent head coach, and United have now agreed terms with the 52-year-old.

Ten Hag will sign a four-year deal with the Red Devils starting from June. The club will pay a compensation fee of €2m for his release from Ajax.

Meanwhile, an announcement won't be made by either club for now. The confirmation could be delayed until after the Dutch Cup final on Sunday.

United are facing the prospect of missing out on Champions League football this term, but it may not impact their plans for the summer.

The club's hierarchy are prepared to back Ten Hag with transfer funds. The main priority will be a new striker and defensive midfielder.

The right-back position could also be bolstered during the summer transfer window with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka failing to impress.
