Man Utd target set to sign new Barcelona contract

Manchester United have been handed a blow with Ronald Araujo set to sign a new long-term contract at Barcelona.

The Uruguayan was recently linked with a summer exit from the Catalan giants amid suggestions that they are reluctant to meet his wage demands.

However, it appears the defender has now agreed personal terms with the Blaugrana, and is now prepared to extend his deal expiring in June 2023.

The centre-back will put pen-to-paper on a new contract until June 2026. The deal will include a staggering release clause of €1 billion.

Aside from Araujo, Xavi Hernandez's side are making progress over a new improved contract for Gavi, who has had a stellar breakthrough.

At just 17, he has established himself as a key player in the Blaugrana ranks, and looks set to have a bright future ahead with potential silverware.

Barcelona are currently going in a transitional phase after several high-profile exits including Lionel Messi, who walked away last summer.
