Manchester United have been handed a blow in the pursuit of RB Leipzig playmaker Christopher Nkunku this summer.

The Frenchman has been in sensational form for Leipzig this campaign, bagging 30 goals and 20 assists from just 45 outings.

This has led to suggestions that he could pursue a bigger challenge, but CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has ruled out a summer departure.

Speaking to Sky Germany, the Leipzig chief reiterated that Nkunku will be with the Bundesliga outfit for another season at least.

He said: "I have said it before, and I will say it again here: Nkunku will be our player again next season. Our goal is to keep the team together for next season."

Nkunku has been recommended to United by interim boss Ralf Rangnick. The Red Devils have been touted to make a summer move.

However, it appears they may have to look elsewhere with Leipzig having no plans of parting ways with the versatile attacker for now.
