Man Utd keen on agreeing deal for Southampton star

Manchester United are reportedly working over a summer deal for Southampton star James Ward-Prowse.

The Red Devils are looking to pursue a defensive midfielder this summer, and incoming boss Erik ten Hag has earmarked Ward-Prowse as an ideal fit.

The England international is known for his world-class set-piece taking abilities, but he has also excelled with his passing and defensive work.

The midfielder has completed over 86 per cent of his passes. He has also won an average of one tackle and one interception for the Saints this term.

His all-round attributes could make him an ideal signing for Ten Hag, who prefers midfielders with high work rates and the ability to build-up play.

Ward-Prowse only signed a new long-term deal with the Saints last summer, but reports claim that he could be tempted by a big-club transfer.

The Saints valued him at around £60m last summer, but his price has been increased to £75m. He has 18 goal contributions to his name this season.
