Arsenal pressing strongly to sign new left-back

Aaron Hickey news

Hickey set for Arsenal move?

Arsenal are pressing strongly to land the services of Bologna defender Aaron Hickey this summer, Gazzetta dello Sport claims.

The Scotland international has been closely watched by Gunners scouts, and the club are now in discussions to sign him.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Bologna are braced for Hickey's exit, and it is only a matter of time before he leaves the club.

The Gunners are deemed favourites to secure his signature. They have already made a bid of around £21 million for him.

Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares are currently the left-back options in the Arsenal squad, but the former has been injury-prone.

This cost the club dearly during the backend of last season as they missed out on the Champions League by the slimmest of margins.

Tavares was hardly impressive in his debut season with multiple defensive mistakes. He could be sold or loan out this summer.

Hickey will be a superb signing for the Gunners with his ambidextrous ability. He can also comfortably play as a right-back.
