Man Utd very close to agreeing deal for 25-year-old

Manchester United are reportedly on the cusp of landing an agreement with Barcelona for midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutchman is the prime midfield target for the Red Devils, and it appears the club are now close to finalising his transfer.

According to Sport, a deal worth £69m is set to be agreed between the sides. United are willing to pay a big sum up front.

However, the transfer will still depend on whether the Mancunian giants can convince De Jong over a summer transfer.

The 25-year-old is reluctant to make the switch to Old Trafford following the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League.

United are still optimistic of landing his services as Barcelona are apparently pushing him through the exit door this summer.

De Jong had a fantastic time at Ajax under Erik ten Hag. A reunion could be a key factor in luring him over the coming days.

United want to secure the transfer by June 15. If not, they may turn their attention towards Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
