Man Utd ready to pay £69m for La Liga midfielder

Manchester United are ready to pay £69m to land the services of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, Sky Sport Germany claims.

The Red Devils are determined to sign the Netherlands international this summer following the recommendation of manager Erik ten Hag.

Informal talks have already taken place with the Blaugrana, and it is now claimed that United are willing to pay £69m to sign the 25-year-old.

The Catalan giants are 'ready to hand over' De Jong amid their financial problems, but the midfielder will need to be convinced to leave.

De Jong is aware of the interest from the Red Devils, but is reluctant to join them following their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Ten Hag still believes the midfielder can be lured. He is optimistic that he can convince his former Ajax player to join the Red Devils.

De Jong is currently on Nations League duty with the Netherlands, and a transfer may only materialise after the international games.
