Liverpool agree deal for Manchester United target
Liverpool have reportedly secured a transfer agreement to sign Manchester United target Darwin Nunez this summer.
The Red Devils were initially keen on landing Nunez from Benfica and talks were held informally between the sides.
However, Nunez was not keen on joining them amid their lack of Champions League football, and he has now chosen Liverpool.
The Merseyside outfit have agreed a deal worth €100m for the former Almeria man. They will part with an initial €80m to sign him.
The Uruguayan is currently undergoing a series of medical tests, and could be formally announced as a Liverpool player next week.
Nunez, who netted 34 goals for Benfica last term, is expected to sign a six-year contract with the Reds on wages of £150,000 weekly.
He will become the club's second signing of the summer, having already signed Fabio Carvalho from Fulham last month.
The arrival of Nunez should coincide with the departure of Sadio Mane, who has his sights on joining Bayern Munich.
