Lingard set for West Ham move?
Free agent Jesse Lingard looks set for a return to his former club West Ham this summer, after the Hammers made a renewed approach to sign the England international midfielder. Deemed surplus to requirements at Man Utd, Lingard is desperate for regular first-team football and now looks set for a return to David Moyes' side.
Lingard enjoyed a successful loan period with the club in 2020-21, scoring 9 goals in just 16 Premier League outings. The midfielder was hugely admired by the Irons' fans, who thanks to the player's goals went on to have a largely successful Europa League campaign the following season.
Lingard's contract with Manchester United will expire on July 1st, and from then on the player is free to discuss contracts with any other club.
West Ham are in pole position to sign Lingard, but there could also be offers on the table from Newcastle United and Southampton, whilst it is understood an unknown German club are considering a move for the versatile midfielder.
Lingard is ready to accept a package of around £140,000 per week.
