Raheem Sterling news

Sterling tipped to join Chelsea

Chelsea are engaged in negotiations with Manchester City for the transfer of Raheem Sterling, Fabrizio Romano claims.

The England international has a year left on his current deal, and he appears open to pursuing a fresh challenge.

The Blues are the front-runners to sign him, but they still need to make a suitable transfer offer to convince City.

Their opening bid of £21 million plus add-ons was rejected, and they are now preparing a renewed proposal for him.

City value Sterling between £47m and 52m. Chelsea may need to pay around that figure to persuade them into a sale.

The arrival of Sterling could coincide with the departures of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, who have underperformed.

Ziyech is currently the subject of interest from AC Milan while Werner has also been linked with a move to the Italian top-flight.

Werner was recently offered as a makeweight by the Blues to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, but it was unsuccessful.
