Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has reportedly given the green light to join Chelsea during this summer's transfer window.

The England international has been a key player for the Premier League champions, but his minutes have reduced in recent years.

He managed to contribute 17 goals and nine assists from 47 appearances last term, but averaged just 65 minutes per appearance.

With a year left on his contract, he has decided to move on, and Fabrizio Romano claims that the Blues are favourites to sign him.

Their opening offer of around £21m plus add-ons was rejected, but they are expected to make a fresh proposal close to £45m.

Personal terms are unlikely to prove a stumbling block with Sterling having already spoken to Blues manager Thomas Tuchel.

He has been guaranteed a starting role by the German and the 27-year-old is said to be excited by the prospect of joining the club.

If Sterling were to move to Chelsea, he is expected to become their highest earner with wages in excess of £350,000-a-week.
