Wolves make move for Mauro Icardi
Wolves have been linked with a surprise move for Argentina international and Paris St Germain forward Mauro Icardi, after identifying the 29-year-old as their top target for the summer transfer window. According to reports, the Molineux side are ready to table a 30 million euro bid to lure the striker to Wolverhampton.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Wolves have been in contact with super agent Jorge Mendes to secure a deal for Icardi. Wolves are confident that they can bring the player to England after Icardi's spell with PSG appeared to be drawing to a close, after a largely unsuccessful period in Ligue 1. Icardi moved to France from Italy from former club Inter Milan, where the striker bagged 111 goals in 188 games. Only 11 goals in 44 games in Paris has seen the striker slip down the pecking order, and Wolves' representatives are circling.
Just 4 goals in 24 appearances in Ligue 1 appears to spell the end for the striker, who has also been monitored by Chelsea and Man Utd in recent years. However, Wolves are confident they can secure a move for Icardi, who will become the highest paid player in the club's history should he decide to make the move.
