Martinez set for Man Utd move?

Manchester United have held positive talks with Ajax over defender Lisandro Martinez, according to ESPN.

The Red Devils are on the verge of signing Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia and it could be followed up with the purchase of Martinez.

Arsenal have already made a couple of offers for the Argentine, but ESPN claims that he is likely to prefer a move to Old Trafford.

Martinez worked under manager Erik ten Hag for three seasons, and he is said to be keen on a reunion with his former Ajax boss.

It is added that Ajax are also willing to negotiate with the Red Devils, who are prepared to meet their final price tag with add-ons.

Arsenal have made a proposal of around £34 million with bonuses, but United are willing to go up to £43m to land the centre-back.

Martinez is excited by the prospect of moving to the Premier League. He could become the club's third signing after De Jong and Malacia.
