Man Utd confirm signing of highly-rated defender

Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of highly-rated defender Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

The 22-year-old was on the cusp of joining Lyon last month, but the Red Devils hijacked the deal at the final hurdle.

Malacia was immediately convinced over a move to Old Trafford, and he has now been officially presented by the club.

The Netherlands international has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal with United with the option for another 12 months.

He is widely expected to compete with Luke Shaw for the left-back spot, meaning that Alex Telles could leave the club.

Telles has been the regular deputy behind Shaw, and he was handed regular minutes last term amid Shaw's injury troubles.

This earned him call-ups to the Brazilian national team, and he will be desperate for game time ahead of the World Cup.

A return to Porto could be an option for Telles. The Primeira Liga outfit may propose a loan deal with a possible buy clause.
