Arsenal looking to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic?
Arsenal are reported to have failed with an opening bid for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The Gunners are lining up a new central midfielder this summer, and they are currently assessing their options.
Leicester City's Youri Tielemans has been heavily linked, but they may also be looking at better transfer targets.
According to Il Messaggero, the Gunners have failed with an opening bid worth £47m for Milinkovic-Savic.
It is added that the north London giants are prepared to make an improved offer of £56m which will be accepted.
Lazio are keen on parting ways with Milinkovic-Savic following his refusal to extend his contract beyond June 2024.
They were initially eyeing around £80m for his services, but have reduced their valuation for the transfer window.
The Serie A outfit are prepared to sanction a quick sale such that they can purchase new players with the funds gained.
Arsenal can make a big statement by signing the Serbian, who bagged 11 goals and 12 assists for Lazio last season.
