Gabriel Jesus' agent reveals several clubs tried to hijack transfer
The agent of newly signed Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has sensationally revealed that a host of clubs tried to hijack the North London side's move for the Brazilian international. Arsenal signed Jesus from Manchester City in a deal worth a reported £50 million.
Gabriel Jesus' agent Marcelo Pettinati confirmed many sides made a last ditch approach: “Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move. They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we’d already chosen our new project.”
Chelsea eventually would make a move for another Man City player, with Raheem Sterling making the transfer to London. Sterling had just one year remaining on his contract with City and secured a dream transfer to the Blues.
It is understood that Tottenham and even Manchester United were amongst those who tabled an offer for the striker, but Arsenal were always in the driving seat.
Since his arrival at Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus has shone in pre-season friendlies, scoring just a few minutes into his debut.
