RB Leipzig interested in pursuing Chelsea forward
RB Leipzig technical director Chris Vivell has confirmed that the club are interested in re-signing Chelsea forward Timo Werner.
Werner joined the Blues from the Bundesliga outfit two years ago, but has not lived up to the high expectations.
He has made 45 goal contributions, but has also been guilty of missing several clear-cut scoring chances for the club.
Hence, he is no longer a guaranteed starter, and Leipzig are one of the clubs touted to sign him on loan this summer.
When pressed on the speculation, Vivell revealed that Leipzig are not close to signing the 26-year-old at the moment.
He told Bild: "We find him exciting, he’s incredibly fast and a German international. We have remained in contact with him since his transfer."
"But we are not close to a deal and will only announce something when it makes sense."
Werner has also been linked with Italian giants Juventus, but he is said to prefer a return to the German top-flight.
