Saliba not rushing Arsenal contract talks

French defender William Saliba is not in a hurry to sign a new contract with Arsenal, according to The Mirror.

The centre-back joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne three years ago, but had to wait until this season for his debut.

He has since produced several stand-out displays for the club and has also chipped in with a couple of goals.

Despite this, Saliba is not rushing to extend his stay with the Gunners, and is prepared to play the waiting game.

The 21-year-old had to stay patient to make his breakthrough, and now has control over contract negotiations.

His current deal expires in June 2024, and the Gunners will be hoping that they can convince him to prolong his stay.

If they are unable to do so by next summer, there could be a genuine possibility of him heading for the exit door for a premium fee.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are among high-profile teams that are monitoring his contract developments.
