Chelsea favourites to sign €60m Bundesliga star

Chelsea are reportedly leading the queue to sign Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig next summer.

The Blues were interested in the Frenchman in the recent transfer window, but Leipzig convinced him to stay put with a new contract.

The deal includes a €60 million release clause which becomes active next summer, and the Blues appear favourites to trigger it.

According to Bild, the west London giants are already making strides towards the player, having already completed a secret medical.

Furthermore, Fabrizio Romano claims that the club are planning talks with Leipzig as early as January in order to find an agreement.

While his buy-out clause does not become active until June 2023, the Blues want to negotiate a pre-agreement for the same transfer fee.

It remains to be seen whether they will succeed in doing so. Liverpool and Manchester United could have plans to scupper their pursuit.

The duo could offer a much higher fee during the January transfer window. It could also make Chelsea to pay more for the Frenchman.
