Arsenal open contract talks with French sensation

Arsenal have opened contract talks with defender William Saliba following an extraordinary start to his Gunners career, as per The Times.

The Frenchman made his competitive debut for the north London giants in August this year, and he has since been exceptional.

The 21-year-old has excelled with his positioning, decision-making and distribution. He has the hallmarks to become a world-class star.

As a result, the club's hierarchy have now started negotiations with his agent as they look to commit him to a new and improved contract.

Saliba is currently one of the lowest earners at the club at £40,000-a-week, but he would be assured a six-figure salary with the renewal.

The defender has yet to be convinced over an extension, but the Gunners are determined to finalise a new deal before the season concludes.

Saliba's current deal expires in June 2024. The north Londoners want to avoid him from entering the final year of his contract next summer.
