Chelsea planning to swoop for Enzo Fernandez?

Chelsea reportedly have their sights on landing Benfica star Enzo Fernandez when the transfer window reopens in January.

The west London giants bolstered their squad with nine players last summer, but they are still eyeing more recruits next year.

A couple of midfielders could be prioritised and according to Sport, they are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Fernandez.

The Argentine only joined Benfica from River Plate this season, and has proved a revelation after just 18 appearances.

He has managed five goal contributions in this period and has also averaged two tackles and one interception per outing.

Hence, the transfer interest is unsurprising. Benfica look set to demand a significant fee to part ways with his services.

The Portuguese side signed him for just €10m, but they are expected to demand in the region of €50m for his transfer.

Chelsea have the funds under new owner Todd Boehly, but they will need to be wary of breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
