Barcelona and Real Madrid linked with move for Almiron
Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron is wanted by Real Madrid and Barcelona, as both clubs consider a transfer for the Paraguay international. Interestingly, the Toon Army star has a minimum fee release clause in his contract, and the Spanish duo could activate it this January or next summer.
Almiron initially struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, but under Eddie Howe he has been one of the league's best performers so far this season. Almiron has scored 7 Premier League goals in 13 games, just one away from the total of eight goals that he scored in the previous four league campaigns for Newcastle United.
Whilst Newcastle will hope Almiron will sign a brand new contract at St James' Park, the club will need to move swiftly to agree a deal to prevent interest from abroad in their star player.
Almiron has joined Joelinton as a fan favourite for the Toon Army this season, and the club are set to open contract talks shortly.
Almiron signed a five year deal in 2019 and has appeared in 123 games for Newcastle, scoring 16 goals.
