Man Utd and Chelsea handed boost in signing Bayern Munich star

Manchester United and Chelsea have been handed a boost in signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard next summer.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move away from the German champions last summer but eventually decided to stay.

However, he may not be at the club for long, according to Bild. The World Cup winner is said to be eyeing a fresh challenge in a new league.

Having yet to renew his contract beyond June 2024, it appears likely that he could be sold at the end of the ongoing campaign.

Chelsea and United were interested in him during the last transfer window and they could go head-to-head for his services next summer.

Pavard has largely played as a right-back for Bayern since his move from Stuttgart. However, he can also operate in central defence.

The 26-year-old prefers to play from the heart of the backline and he may want the positional assurance when he joins another club.
