Chelsea stall contract talks with Mason Mount
Chelsea have reportedly stalled in negotiations over a new contract with midfielder Mason Mount.
The England international has been a key player over the past two years but the club are yet to prolong his stay.
His current deal expires in June 2024 and there is currently an impasse over a renewal due to his wage demands.
Mount is currently on around £75,000-a-week and the Blues are prepared to double his wages for a new deal.
However, the Blues graduate is said to be eyeing close to Reece James' salary which stands at £250,000 weekly.
As a result, there is a roadblock in the discussions and it remains to be seen whether a solution is found soon.
If not, the Blues may have to consider his sale next summer as they wouldn't want to lose him for free in 2024.
Mount has been a regular starter for the Blues despite his inconsistent form. He will now report for World Cup duty.
