Man Utd and Arsenal favourites to sign Portuguese star

Manchester United and Arsenal could compete for the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix this winter.

The Portuguese star has made the decision to leave the Spanish giants in January and he is keen on moving to the Premier League.

United and Arsenal are now considered as favourites to sign him, but it is unclear whether they will meet Atletico's transfer demands.

Diego Simeone's side are willing to part ways with the 23-year-old this winter, but they want at least €100 million in transfer fees.

That would represent a club-record fee for the Gunners. It would be a huge statement from the north London side if they pay such a sum.

In comparison to Arsenal, United are better equipped financially to land Felix, but the hierarchy may be reluctant to spend in January.

After the huge €250 million spending spree last summer, the onus could be on pursuing a loan signing next month rather than a permanent buy.
