Chelsea make bid to sign talented French defender
Chelsea have reportedly made an opening bid to sign Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile next month.
The Blues bolstered their central defence with multiple signings in Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana last summer.
However, there continues to remain a weakness in the position. The Blues are now interested in signing Badiashile from Monaco.
The Frenchman is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Ligue 1 and the Blues are determined to sign him this winter.
According to Foot Mercato, they have made an opening bid of €40m for the 21-year-old but are yet to receive a response.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Blues are not alone in the pursuit with interest from Newcastle, Sevilla and Manchester United.
Sevilla were unsuccessful in signing him last summer for €30m. It remains to be seen whether they will pay more for his services.
As things stand, Chelsea appear in the front seat to sign Badiashile, provided Monaco are satisfied with the offer on the table.
