Chelsea very close to signing Benoit Badiashile

Chelsea are very close to finalising the transfer of Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, according to L'Equipe.

The Blues have identified the Frenchman as their main centre-back target for January and they are now in advanced talks.

An opening offer of around €35m has been made and it is now claimed that they need to pay €5m to sign him.

This should a formality for the west London giants and they will be hoping to land his services as soon as possible.

Badiashile has been on the radar of several clubs including Sevilla and Manchester United. The latter failed to sign him in 2020.

Sevilla made an approach for the centre-back last summer, but their proposal of around €30m was deemed insufficient.

Chelsea are now in pole position to land his services with reports claiming that the player has agreed personal terms.

Badiashile is set to become the Blues' second winter signing after the recent arrival of Molde striker David Fofana.
