Man Utd open contract talks with key defender

Diogo Dalot news

Dalot set for new deal at Man Utd?

Manchester United have opened talks with defender Diogo Dalot over a new long-term deal, as per O Jogo.

The Portuguese has been an ever-present figure under manager Erik ten Hag and the club are now prepared to reward him.

He is presently one of the lowest earners at the club at £25,000-a-week and a renewal could quadruple his current salary.

Dalot was a squad player at the start of last season. He only stayed at the club because they could not sign Kieran Trippier.

This apparently proved a blessing in disguise for the Portuguese, who has now established himself as the regular right-back.

He is an indispensable figure under Ten Hag and the hierarchy are now determined to commit him to a long-term contract.

Apart from Dalot, the club are also planning talks with Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw over improved deals beyond June 2024.

However, there are claims that Fred's contract may not be renewed and he could be offloaded at the end of the current season.
