Newcastle United planning swoop for Man Utd midfielder

Newcastle United reportedly have an interest in signing Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay this month.

The Scotland star was a regular in the centre of the park at the start of the season, but he was displaced by Casemiro in October.

McTominay has since been restricted to minutes off the bench and The Daily Mail claim that the Magpies want to lure him to the club.

However, a mid-season transfer is unlikely to happen with the Red Devils reluctant to lose any of their key players this winter.

McTominay is no longer a guaranteed starter for the Red Devils, but manager Erik ten Hag continues to value his presence in the squad.

Any decision on his future could be made at the end of the season. Aside from McTominay, Fred is also the subject of transfer interest.

He is currently on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain. Both players could be allowed to leave in the summer if replacements are found.
