Man Utd confirm first signing of January transfer window
Manchester United have confirmed their first signing of the January transfer window with Jack Butland joining them on loan.
The Red Devils recently lost the services of Martin Dubravka as he was recalled from his season-long loan by Newcastle United.
As a result, the club needed another back-up goalkeeper behind David de Gea and they have made the decision to land Butland on loan.
The 29-year-old has joined the club from Crystal Palace until the end of the season and they won't have any option to buy him in the summer.
His current deal with Palace expires in June this year but the south London outfit have the option to keep him for another 12 months.
Butland may not make an appearance for the Red Devils this term, but his experience could be handy in case of an injury for De Gea.
De Gea is expected to start every game hereon but manager Erik ten Hag has brought in Butland in order to provide emergency cover.
