Arsenal set to make second January signing

Kiwior set for Arsenal transfer

Arsenal are set to make their second January signing after reaching an agreement for Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior.

The Poland international was hugely impressive at the recent World Cup finals and it appears the Gunners were keeping tabs.

The club have been working on the deal in secret and they have now finalised a verbal agreement to secure his signature.

The Gunners will pay an initial £17m for the 22-year-old star, who primarily operates at the heart of the defence.

He is also capable of playing at left-back or in defensive midfield and this could be a reason behind the Gunners signing him.

Arsenal currently have just one left-footed centre-back in Gabriel Magalhaes in the squad and Kiwior should provide competition.

The club need plenty of squad depth for the second half of the season as they look to stay top of the Premier League until May.

Arsenal are currently occupying the top spot in the standings. They are five points ahead of Manchester City with a game in hand.
