Chelsea to make 20 million euro bid for 19-year-old Frenchman
Chelsea have been in contact with Lyon regarding a transfer move to sign 19-year-old right-back Malo Gusto, as the Blues continue to scour the world to sign the best young talent available. Gusto has been a regular for Lyon since his debut in 2021, and has now played 47 games in Ligue 1 for his current club.
It is understood that Lyon had originally turned down an initial bid for the player, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, but now the Blues will return with an improved offer. Chelsea may not be able to complete a move in the month of January, however, as Lyon had planned to keep hold of the defender until the summer.
Malo Gusto is a versatile player, who is able to play as a right wing back or right midfielder, as well as a centre-back.
He is eligble to play for either Portugal or France, and according to many reports Portugal have been trying to persuade the defender for several months to dedicate his future to their national side.
Chelsea have been very active during the transfer window, having made a transfer deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk complete from under the noses of rivals Arsenal, and will hope the arrival of Malo further signals their intent to push for a Premier League title challenge in the future.
