Brighton make surprise bid for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Liverpool could let midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave Anfield this month, as the former England international is said to be keen on a move elsewhere. Manager Jurgen Klopp has deployed Oxlade-Chamberlain several times this year as replacement attacker due to injuries but the former Arsenal man has failed to impress and could now move to Brighton and Hove Albion before the transfer window slams shut.
The player has scored 18 goals and a further 15 assists in 143 games at Anfield, and has failed to live up to expectations after departing Arsenal for the club for a £50 million transfer fee.
The player's deal will expire in June, and he can leave on a free transfer during the summer, however Liverpool have first option on a new deal and have opted not to take it up.
Brighton have decided that Oxlade-Chamberlain may be a possible alternative to Leandro Trossard, who left the South Coast side for Arsenal during the January transfer window.
At Liverpool, Cody Gakpo is expected to play regularly as an alternative to Oxlade-Chamberlain.
